History of the Peridot
A gemstone with a fascinating history, records show peridots were mined as early as 1500BC and is a gem that has connections with ancient Egypt. It is believed that Cleopatra actually wore peridots in the mistaken belief that they were emeralds. The peridot, unlike other gems are not formed in the crust of the earth; but deep inside and at times in the earth's mantle and comes to the surface as a result of volcanic activity.
